Basically our service uses a Socks v4/v5 compliant proxy server.

Our application in fact creates a tunnel between you and your selected server.

Once this tunnel is connected the application creates a Socks server on your machine and listens on port 1024. 

Any socks compliant software may now use this socks server on port 1024.

In effect you may continue to browse the net use Netflix; do everything as normal.

When you want to keep your identity secret, or wish to lower latency to a certain

country you configure the application to use that server 127.0.0.1:1080

Our application also includes attempts to force applications to run over a socks server.

Either by injection or changing the way it's allowed to access the  Windows api. 

These methods called Freecap and Sockscap allow support for many games. 

Hence allowing you to play games restricted by area or warcraft with reduced pings.

Basically our service takes advantage of the higher priority that certain traffic is given on the Internet. 

Namely tinygrams. Tinygrams are out of the scope of this simple faq but needless to say it's a small packet.

Simply put, we are able to redirect your connection from the slow normal path traffic takes on the everyday Internet. 

By changing it's very transport (ie ssh) we route the now masked optimized traffic through very high speed servers.

We have highly modified this idea and taken it to a new level with  bouncers and internal tunnels.

The downside of tinygrams is reduced throughput ie latency will be reduced; although your max speed might be lower.

Great for gaming or applications that require feedback; less so for downloading large files.

1) Please make sure you have activated your account, our system sends an email you must click the activation link.

2) Make sure you logged into our website, account issues are published here.

3) Your account may have been closed do to aup violations or extended trial times.

4) Your trying to connect from a banned country ie, Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, Latvia are banned countries.

5) Paid users should contact support at this point.

Our system will only  accept one account creation request per ip address.

Ie, if frank had your ip yesterday; he created an account. Your ip won't be able to be used for some time.

The only solution is to get yourself a new ip, reboot your router. Or sign up from another computer.
Multiple accounts may be used from the same ip; it is only a restriction placed on account creation.

We have so much bandwidth we can't even answer the question; our parent company holds peering

agreements with over 1120 different networks; we interconnect clusters via bonded 1ge links.

Amazon itself holds a huge amount of bandwidth along with bonded interconnects between it's clusters.

In this day and age it has little to do with bandwidth and everything to do with peering.. we peer good!

Although super rare it is possible our authentication servers are down; we have redundant servers of course.

The Internet is alive after all, it's possible the link from your cluster to the authentication servers has broke.

1) Jitter is the variance in packet response times:

Here are three packets sent to google.com:

64 bytes from gy-in-f147.1e100.net (74.125.157.147): icmp_seq=1 ttl=54 time=22.9 ms
64 bytes from gy-in-f147.1e100.net (74.125.157.147): icmp_seq=2 ttl=54 time=22.7 ms
64 bytes from gy-in-f147.1e100.net (74.125.157.147): icmp_seq=3 ttl=54 time=22.8 ms

See how the pings are not all the same, although in this case very close; the jitter for these three pings would be 0.139 ms.

2) Latency is how long it takes one packet to travel to your gameserver; in this case it took 22.8ms to contact google.com.

If you completed a transaction ie, have a confirmation from either Paypal or another provider

and the system is still reporting you as a  trial user please contact support asap.  

Something has gone wrong with the payment provider.

Because we hold zero account information on our servers we cannot offer some of the features you see on other sites.

While you have an active subscription with Appshield you may not upgrade; you must cancel that account with the billing

provider. Once the account expires the pricing page will open up and you can select your three, six month package.

Chances are very low we will add additional billers; unless we have heard of a provider it is really not worth the risk to our 

client base. We understand MyCard is very important to Asia.

No, our support staff have zero access to billing systems. We have a unique system for customer security

model here at Appshield; we don't store any information on our servers!.
